Texas con men like to think BIG. Billy Sol Estes was one of the biggest. Now there is one who is a small fry in terms of money probably stolen, but the creativity and gullibility found in the story are immense. Let's call him the Frito Bandito.
Billy Sol Estes was a rancher who lived and worked near No Trees, Texas which is Holyagnostic's home town. His con was to borrow massive amounts of money using non existent fertilizer (anhydrous ammonia) tanks as collateral.
The reason Billy Sol comes to Holy's mind is because he profited using not only other people's money, but also other people's imagination. The Frito Bandito has done exactly the same thing by using imaginary churches. The story has Texas written all over it. Religion, Ethnicity, Power, Money, Rich Gotrocks Foundations, are just a few of the elements involved.
Holy will give you a brief overview of the events as he has watched them unfold in reality and in a few blogs. His telling is not to say that he knows what happened, but it is what he THINKS happened.
First comes the Very Big Organization For Getting Bucks From Lots of Churches (VBOFGBFLC). Thousands of churches from all over the state send them a percentage of their ugh...gross receipts each month. One of the things that the VBOFGFLC does with these dollars is provide money for starting new churches.
Enter stage right, The Frito Bandito.
More to come...
"VBOFGBFLC"
